The Start Of Our New Adventure
We took over the tenancy of Mackworth House Farm in 2011 after many generations of the Clark-Maxwell family. There is still a lot to do! A lot of TLC to the house and grounds and as our pictures shows we have made a start but have a long way to go.
We have a huge area of land which once sited an allotment and greenhouses. It’s all over grown and needs a real good tidy. Presently we are concentrating on the main gardens and extensive lawns.
The gardening project started in 2013 once we had established just what was growing here. Work continues as ‘work in progress’, much of the house is restored and cosy – during 2018 we hope to add a new ensuite room as two of the B&B rooms have shared facilities! Future work includes new bathrooms, fixtures and fittings.
The former owners of the house must have been very avid gardeners’ as there is an extensive selection of unusual flora and fauna.
The garden at Mackworth House overlooks acres of fields and pasture. This is a working dairy farm. There is always something to see. More often than not we also have our own seasonal produce and free-range eggs.
